Hi Guys
It’s an absolute pleasure to have become the next national team manager, and I hope I can emulate the successes of my predecessors. Currently we have a few top riders but not the strength in depth of other nations.
I’ll start with my targets:
• For this year in the CON and the World Tour I expect to finish overall in the top 10, and my target is a top 5 finish, that would be fantastic.
• Meanwhile I’m also looking to promote the training of new young English riders, who can become the future of the National Team.
• Also I want to stop some of our talented riders going inactive on teams, and do the best to keep them active until their retirement.
One of my main points of emphasis will be on youth and building for the future, laying a solid platform for the years to come.
Another system I’d like to set up is mentoring, where the more experienced teams would help new younger teams to develop and give them tips whilst keeping them more interested in the game. If you are interested in helping out with this can you please send me a PM.
My plan for the CON, is to go with a 14 man squad, which will compete throughout, thus giving me a little more flexibility and accounting for injuries and lack of RS/DP. Something I believe in is that you need to have a rider capable of winning each race, that’s why I’ve selected a specialist TTer and a specialist Cobbler, both who will ride as support riders occasionally in some other races. I’ve left my 15th spot open, and if a new young talented rider develops then he may be added to the squad in that role.
The Squad
Desmond Ledgerwood (Luveaucek): A talented climber who will act as captain in some races, an easy pick.
Curt Goodrich (Scuppernong): Another talented rider who may have chances to shine as captain on the pure climbs.
Ivan Massicot (Cheetah Chase): A relatively new addition to the team, who’s both an excellent teammate and potential captain.
Avery Nijholt (Greenride): The English Star, and one of the best riders in the world, his form will be crucial to our success.
Finbar Wollam (RideCoppi): A highly talented sprinter who will in all likelihood share the captaincy duties with Nijholt.
Oswald Vancleave (Team Washo): The cobbler has delievered the last two years in the CON Paris, so hopefully more of the same.
Frank Herbage (Team Majones): My specialist TTer, making his debut for the national team, can also act as a solid leadout or teammate if needs be.
Edric Seese (Scuppernong): Simply one of the best English teammates around, and a very useful addition to the squad.
Kyle Abston (Team Airik): Getting on a bit now, but still a quality rider, probably just leadout duties now for the experienced Englishman.
Edgar Ashford (Scilian): Another debutant and a great helper, a 199 point leadout, Cobbling assistant and adequate in the TT.
Eugene Huson (Emerge): I hope its not perceived as bias, as he’s my former rider, but he truly is an excellent and solid teammate with the points in the right places.
Sam Magellan (Team Peanuts): Another very solid leadout, who’s high SP and FR values, excellently combine with the high TQ of the likes of Ashford and Abston.
Chalmers Waloch (Temora Tornadoes): To many perhaps a surprise pick, but selected as my 6th teammate, a role which will be shared with Herbage on occasion. Solid in all aspects of being a teammate and can leadout if required.
Keith Fern (Scilian): Pips Moseley to this spot, as the backup hilly sprinter to Nijholt and excellent leadout. A rider of great talent.
